Institute of Livelihood Research and Training (ILRT)
promoting a large number of sustainable livelihoods


About Us: The Institute of Livelihood Research and Training (ILRT) is a praxis institution dedicated to advancing sustainable livelihoods of the poor including women, tribal, small producers, and other vulnerable groups. Established in 2007 to support the development sector professionals for promoting large number of sustainable livelihoods in India & outside. It is an affiliate of Basix Social Enterprise Group (Basix SEG). ILRT blends research, documentation of field practice, capacity building, piloting livelihood innovations, technical assistance to livelihood practitioners and policy advocacy to deliver inclusive, scalable livelihood solutions.


Our Mandate: To build up a scientific Knowledge Base on livelihoods and disseminate the same to livelihood practitioners.


Our Vision: Knowledge and practice build on each other, promoting dignified livelihoods for all


Our Mission: ILRT shall strive to create an enabling environment for promoting dignified livelihoods for all and become a leading praxis institution in the field of livelihood promotion


Strategy: Knowledge building and dissemination through livelihood research and training, including in partnership with development and academic organizations with a focus on vulnerable segments of society
